ASI Invites Applications for One-Year Post-Graduate Diploma in Archaeology

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has announced an exciting opportunity for aspiring archaeologists. The institute is inviting applications for a one-year Post-Graduate Diploma in Archaeology for the session 2025.

  • Exam Date and Time: 21/12/2024 - 11:00 a.m. to 01:00 p.m.

  • Application Deadline Extended: The last date to apply for the PGDA Entrance Examination has been extended to December 12th, 2024. This is a change from the previously announced deadline of December 5th, 2024.

  • Entrance Exam Date Changed: The date of the PGDA Entrance Examination has been changed to December 21st, 2024. This is a change from the previously announced date of December 15th, 2024.

 As of now, there is no changes to the entrance exam pattern. It's recommended to refer to the previous year's exam pattern as a guide. ( Check PYQs here - One and Two )

 

Qualification: Master’s Degree in Ancient or Medieval Indian History/Archaeology from a recognized University or equivalent with minimum aggregate of 55% marks (50% in respect of candidates belonging to reserve categories as per Govt. rules).


Age: The upper age limit as on 05/12/2024 should not exceed 25 years, which is relaxable to the candidates belonging to reserve categories and departmental (Central/State Govt./University) officials as per Govt. rules.

Reservation: Reservation to SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PH as per Govt. rules.

Total Seats: Total no of Seats - 15 (including Sponsored candidates). Sponsorships Quota: The Sponsorships Quota is as: State Archaeology Department/ University - 02.

In the event on non-availability of eligible reserve category or sponsored quota candidate, then other candidate(s) possessing minimum eligibility would be considered. This relaxation would be at the absolute discretion of the Competent Authority. Also, there will be no limit for the Sponsored candidates from the SAARC & BIMSTEC Countries through Ministry of External Affairs.


Stipend: During the entire period of one year course, the students (excluding sponsored candidates) would be entitled to a stipend of Rs. 8000/- per month in addition to second class railway or ordinary bus fares as travelling allowances for attending outstation training camps.

Step 1: Visit the official website asi.nic.in Step 2: Scroll down and click on “Institute of Archaeology” Step 3: Scroll down to the bottom and click on “Application Process” Step 4: Click on the link for the new session application form, Step 5: Register yourself if you’re a first-time applicant, Step 6: Log in using your email and password Step 7: Fill out the application form accordingly Follow all the instructions or visit directly to this link https://culture.ncog.gov.in/login Further, students are also required to mail the copies of their submitted application form to the official mail of this Institute - dirins.asi@gmail.com. Question: Is a Medical Certificate required for IOA Admission? Answer: No, a Medical Certificate is not generally required for admission to the Institute of Archaeology unless you have a specific physical disability.

Question: Is a Renewed Caste Certificate necessary for the application? Answer: While a renewed Caste Certificate is preferred, you can initially apply with an older certificate. However, you will be required to submit a renewed certificate at a later stage, likely during the admission process or after enrollment. Question: What is the Entrance Exam Pattern?
