The bilateral effort was led by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), under the leadership of Dr. Sanjay Kumar Manjul, Additional Director General, ASI, and Mukesh Sharma from IIT Kanpur. Key participants also included IIT Roorkee, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, Soprintendenza Archeologia, Belle Arti e Paesaggio, Istituto Centrale per il Restauro, and Nedir Srl Plasma & Polimers. The cooperation was facilitated by Professor Sergio Ledda, the Italian Embassy’s scientific officer, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing cultural heritage conservation.

This collaboration represents a two-way exchange, with the Italian delegation previously visiting India twice to gain a deeper understanding of the country’s conservation practices and heritage management techniques. The visits were funded by the Department of Science and Technology and supported by the ASI for India counterpart. Appreciation from both the Indian and Italian embassies underscores the mutual dedication to preserving cultural heritage through knowledge sharing and joint initiatives. The ongoing partnership between India and Italy highlights a shared vision to enhance cultural heritage conservation through innovative methods and international collaboration.
