The National Museum is currently accepting applications for its Summer Internship Programme, designed to provide valuable research and professional experience to graduate and undergraduate students.
As part of the National Museum's commitment to educational outreach, this internship offers participants the opportunity to engage deeply with the museum's collections and interact with experts in the fields of art and culture. Through this programme, interns will gain practical insights into museum operations and conduct research on topics relevant to the museum's holdings.
National Museum, with more than 10 departments, houses objects representing Pre-historic to Modern times. These departments can host students from various academic backgrounds. The students from archaeology, history, art history, science, architecture, design, engineering, photography, library sciences and languages are encouraged to apply after going through the projects and themes offered by different departments in detail.

Key Programme Details:
The Summer Internship will span six weeks during the months of May, June, and July.
The programme is open to students actively enrolled in graduate and undergraduate courses at recognized academic institutions.
This internship is unpaid and focuses on providing research-oriented experience.
Application Process and Guidelines:
Applications must be submitted through the official internship programme channels; direct contact with museum curators is not permitted.
The programme can accommodate up to 20 interns.
Applicants should demonstrate a strong interest in museum studies and specify their research focus.
A brief bio and a statement of purpose (SOP) are required as part of the application.
Interns will be selected based on project availability and supervisor matching.
The working hours for interns will be from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Saturday.
Regular and punctual attendance is expected.
Interns may be assigned diverse tasks related to ongoing museum activities.
All intellectual property generated during the internship will belong to the National Museum.
Interns will be required to submit a report and presentation at the end of the internship.
Successful completion of the programme will result in the awarding of a certificate.
The application must be countersigned and stamped by the head of the applicant's academic institution.
Selection Procedure:
Applications will be shortlisted based on the applicant's qualifications and SOP.
Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a panel of experts via video, telephone, or in-person.

The last date to sumbit forms for the summer internship is 18th March every year.
An orientation programme will be scheduled, and details will be provided by the Learning & Education department.
