Three-Day National Workshop on "Anthropology and Museums"

Organized by: Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (IGRMS)


Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (IGRMS) in Bhopal, set in a prehistoric landscape, is one of India's largest anthropological museums. Spanning 200 acres in Shamla Hills, it features eight open-air exhibitions and 12 indoor galleries, showcasing India's rich cultural heritage. The museum offers interactive displays, engaging exhibitions, and visitor-friendly activities, including workshops, seminars, cultural festivals, and artist camps. Its extensive outreach programs connect communities with heritage, while the reference library serves as a valuable resource for researchers, students, and professionals.


About the Workshop:This workshop aims to foster collaboration between IGRMS, Departments of Anthropology/Museology, and Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs). Participants will explore museum-based research, heritage preservation etc.


Dates: 28th February – 2nd March, 2025 Venue: Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, Bhopal


 Who Can Apply?

●       Teachers & Postgraduate Students of Anthropology/Museology

●       Staff of Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs)

●       IGRMS requests Departments of Anthropology/Museology to nominate two teachers and three students from the department, while TRIs may nominate two staff members involved in museum activities.


Seats Available: 100 (60 for students, 40 for teachers/staff) – First Come, First Serve


Perks:Travel reimbursement (AC-II for teachers/staff, AC-III for students) Modest local hospitality provided
