The Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya Institute of Archaeology, under the Archaeological Survey of India, offers a two-year Post-Graduate Diploma in Archaeology for students interested in furthering their education in this field. The institute provides students with world-class facilities, including research and stay infrastructure, resources, and hands-on field experience through an India tour.
Admissions to the course are direct and announced through the Employment News portal in in the first/ second week of June and the last date for receipt of application is third/fourth week of July.
Please Note: The application form for the PGDA Diploma will be released in August this year, following the same timeline as last year when the application notice was published in August 2023.
The selection process includes a written test and personal interview, based on merit, for eligible candidates who meet the required qualifications.
These qualifications include a Master's degree in Ancient or Medieval Indian History, Archaeology, Anthropology, Geology, or a related field, with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.
There are 25 seats available, including 13 direct candidates, 04 sponsored candidates from state Archaeology departments or universities, and 08 sponsored candidates from SAARC and BIMSTEC countries through the Ministry of External Affairs.
The upper age limit for candidates is 25 years, with relaxations for reserve categories and government officials. Reservations are available for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PH as per government rules. Students will receive a stipend of Rs. 8,000 monthly in addition to travel allowances during the course.
Interested candidates should apply online through the ASI website and submit their final year mark sheet to qualify for the written test. The selection procedure will consist of a written test and a personal interview for shortlisted candidates.
