Noida, U.P: In a groundbreaking move for India's archaeological community, a specialized training program in underwater archaeology has been inaugurated at the Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Institute of Archaeology in Noida. This initiative is designed to prepare a new generation of underwater archaeologists, combining theoretical insights and hands-on experiences.

The inauguration, held on March 17th, welcomed several esteemed dignitaries, including Shri Yadubir Singh Rawat, Director General of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), and Prof. Alok Tripathi, a leading expert in the field. Adding to the significance of the event, the Director-General of the ASI also inaugurated a new office for the Underwater Archaeology Wing (UAW) at the institute, symbolizing a major advancement in this niche field.

The program, running until March 29th, 2025, offers participants a comprehensive curriculum. Theoretical sessions are being conducted at the Noida institute, while practical training will take place at Dwarka, Gujarat—a site renowned for its archaeological and historical significance.

This initiative seeks to equip budding archaeologists with essential skills to explore and preserve India's submerged cultural heritage. By integrating academic rigor with fieldwork, the program aims to empower its participants to uncover the secrets hidden beneath India’s waters, strengthening the nation's heritage conservation efforts.
