Vacancy: Consultant Architect, Consultant Archaeologist and Consultant Historian ( ASI-2024)

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), renowned for its preservation of India's rich history and cultural heritage, has announced a rare opportunity for professionals passionate about history, archaeology, and architecture. Through Project Mausam, ASI is extending its reach beyond traditional boundaries, focusing on the ancient maritime routes, cultural exchanges, and shared heritage across the Indian Ocean. The ASI is seeking three dedicated consultants in Architecture, Archaeology, and History, who will contribute to advancing this unique initiative. Positions Open for Consultant Roles


To further its mission, the ASI is hiring three consultants in the fields of architecture, archaeology, and history for Project Mausam. These consultants will play a vital role in a range of activities, from research and documentation to organizing national and international workshops and coordinating with various ministries and international agencies.


Here’s a breakdown of the positions: I. Consultant Architect Essential Qualification: Masters Degree in Architecture (Conservation) Desirable Qualification: PhD in Architectural Conservation preferably in coastal / marine architecture, Coastal Historical architecture, Cultural landscape, Historical Planning and relevant domain Essential Experience: Minimum working experience of five (05) years. Applicant should have sufficient knowledge in computer applications such as MS Office, AutoCAD, GIS etc. Desirable Experience: Applicant having experience in the fields of maritime routes; spread of Buddhism through land and sea routes; routes followed by Cholas in South and Southeast Asian regions; maritime cultural landscapes across Indian Ocean supported by published works as well as work related to World Heritage matters i.e Preparation of Nomination Dossier, Site Management Plan and Tentative List would be given preference. II. Consultant Archaeologist Essential Qualification: Master's Degree in Archaeology/Ancient Indian History, culture and Archaeology/Art History or any other relevant domain. Desirable Qualification: Doctorate in Archaeology, preferably in coastal/marine archaeology/Ancient Indian History or any other relevant domain. Experience: Minimum working experience of five (05) years in the field of archaeology. Applicant having experience in the fields of World Heritage Matters, maritime trade routes; spread of Buddhism through land and sea routes; routes followed by Cholas in South and Southeast Asian regions; maritime cultural landscapes across Indian Ocean supported by published works, would be given preference. The candidate should have sufficient knowledge in computer applications such as MS Office etc.

Desirable Experience: Applicant having experience in the fields of World Heritage Matters, maritime trade routes; spread of Buddhism through land and sea routes; routes followed by Cholas in South and Southeast Asian regions; maritime cultural landscapes across Indian Ocean, cultural contacts with other countries, supported by published works, would be given preference. Applicant should have sufficient knowledge in computer applications such as MS Office etc. III. Consultant Historian Essential Qualification: Master's in history with specialization in Ancient Indian History/ or Early Medieval History Desirable Qualification: Doctorate in History, preferably in overseas cultural contacts, Maritime history, or any other relevant domain. Essential Experience: Minimum experience of five (05) years in the field of History Desirable Experience: Applicant having experience in the fields of World Heritage Matters, maritime trade routes; spread of Buddhism through land and sea routes; routes followed by Cholas in South and Southeast Asian regions; maritime cultural landscapes across Indian Ocean, cultural contacts with other countries, supported by published works, would be given preference.
